By popular demand, we are also placing a copy of the series James Lalone wrote from 1985 to 1988 on the Tremblay family here for your use. Please be aware that Mr. Lalone is constantly working to improve his Tremblay database and that this series is no longer up-to-date. In particular, it does not include the reserch René Jetté did to untangle the four contemporary Louis Tremblay and Ursule Simard couples. Nevertheless, it is a valuable work and a good example of the kind of articles published in Michigan's Habitant Heritage over the years. |
Best Article of 2007
Every year the Society's Board of Directors will select the article they consider the best to have appeared in our journal and feature it here for the general public to appreciate the quality of the work submitted to our journal.
The 2007 voted best article is Gail Moreau-DesHarnais and Diane Wolford Sheppard's "Hillary Rodham Clinton’s French-Canadian Ancestry: Detroit and Michigan Connection," Michigan's Habitant Heritage 28, no. 4 (October 2007): 197-202 and "Hillary Rodham Clinton: Ancestry of Delia Martin: Conclusion." Michigan's Habitant Heritage 29, no. 1 (January 2008): 46-49. The article presented here is actually a combination of these two parts. Enjoy.
Best Article of 2006
The 2006 voted best article is Loraine DiCerbo's "The Excommunication of Louis Gonzague Deshêrtes and Louise Beaulieu." Michigan's Habitant Heritage 27, no. 2 (April 2006): 85-90. This is the first part of a continuing series.
Best Article of 2005
The voted best article for 2005 was Suzanne Boivin Sommerville's "Who Was the Anonymous 1702 Wet Nurse for One of Lamothe Cadillac's Children? Additional Documentation for the Birth of a Cadillac Child at Fort Ponchartrain in 1702." Michigan's Habitant Heritage 26, no. 1 (January 2005): 21-27.

Back Issues
The Society has some copies of back issues of Michigan’s Habitant Heritage which you can order from the Society's address on our Contact Us web page. Please email us first to confirm that we have the back issue you desire. Once we confirm that we have the back issue we will ask that you send your order to our address, not through email, and make sure you enclose your payment. The cost for all back issues is $6.25 USA for each back issue.
Photocopies of Individual Articles
To order a photocopy of one or more individual articles, please make a request of the Periodical Source Index project at the Allen County Public Library, Fort Wayne, Indiana. This fine institution has all the back issues of Michigan’s Habitant Heritage and can make the necessary photocopies.
